Finally, after 14 months of COVID-19 and getting vaccinated, we decided to fly. I admit, I was a little nervous, but I was also so excited! I love travel, especially plane travel. I enjoy knowing that I can board a plane, and, within a matter of time, I am in a new place. I have missed it so much.
Flying on a plane is something I’ve been doing since I was an infant. As I got a little bit older, I looked forward to every plane ride. I loved watching the flight attendants. In fact, I can remember wanting to be one when I grew up. They were always so nice. They would bring me seconds of the airplane meal if I asked. I loved looking out the window and seeing Earth below, so small.
As I reflect on those childhood flying memories, I am reminded of how much I have missed it over the last 14 months! Finally, after 14 months of COVID-19 and getting vaccinated, we decided to fly. I admit, I was a little nervous, but I was also so excited!

Finally, after 14 months of COVID-19 and getting vaccinated, we decided to fly. I admit, I was a little nervous, but I was also so excited!
This first flight meant so much more to me than just a plane trip, though. This first flight provided my husband and me with an opportunity to visit our daughter and son-in-law. Although she has been home a few times over this year, he hasn’t been able to join her. In fact, we hadn’t seen him in person since they were married in December 2019.
My first flight was so worth it! I have to admit that flying was a little bit different due to COVID-19, but, all in all, it felt more normal than not. An added bonus was that customs was empty!
All four flights I took ran smoothly. Masks were worn, passengers were calm, flight attendants were comforting, pilots flew with ease, and everything was on time. Once again, I got to view Earth from above, and it was spectacular.
Flying made me feel positive about life returning to normal soon. Honestly, I can’t wait to board my next flight!
